Top five films screening at Cine Salon this Monday, Oct. 7!

This Monday (Oct. 7) at the Creative Alliance we will be screening the top five and announcing the final order of finish/presenting awards at Cine Salon. Here are the top three in alphabetical order (not necessarily order of finish):

  • Cabinet – Carpathian Punch Factory
  • Sweet Lips – Charm City DSLR Film Makers
  • What Did I Miss? – Star Wipe Films

Congratulations to the top three and also to the rest of the top five teams – Continuity Pictures and Yellow Door Gang/Charm City DSLR Film Makers Team II. Just a few points separated these films from the top three.

Monday is going to be a really special night. After the top five are shown, Elena Moscatt, producer of the web series “Click on this”, will discuss after each film why they have strong scripts. Elena will also share clips from horror films with strong scripts/narratives and invite audience members to share their short films.

The cash bar will be open Monday night – we hope everyone will join us for this fun evening. Admission is free to Creative Alliance members and only $5 for non-members.
Thanks again to all of the filmmakers for producing some wonderful films this year – already looking forward to next year! Click here for more details.

And the finalists are…

First off, congratulations to 30+ filmmakers who made some really amazing films this year! Everyone is a winner in our book and we couldn’t be more proud of the filmmakers for the excellent work they did. Mere points separated many of the films so if you do not see your film here, remember judging is extremely subjective and the scores were very close.

Kick off is tonight! What will this year’s prop be?

So at long last, the big kick off party is tonight! The mystery prop has been selected and is locked up under tight 24 hour security. Dropped Frames, you will not being stealing our prop in advance this year! (see their top five heist film “Day Zero” from last year below.) We look forward to seeing at least one representative from each team as required by the rules, but all team members, as well as the public and any cast and crew looking to join a team are welcome to attend the event and network. The cash bar will be open from 6:30 to 9 pm and the prop and rules will be explained at approximately 7:30.

If you’re a last-minute type of person, you can register online here today or at the door. If at the door, please bring cash or a check.

Hard to believe that what once started out as a little friendly competition among friends is fast becoming a Baltimore tradition. We can’t thank the filmmakers, sponsors and audiences enough for helping us to keep this festival going strong.

Last day to get regular rate; Kick off this Wednesday!

Today is the last day to get the regular rate of $60, the same as last year. After Sunday, the price jumps to $75 so don’t delay! Here’s the registration link to join in the fun: http://29daysfilm.eventbrite.com.

For those who are attending, kick off is at the Creative Alliance (3134 Eastern Ave., Baltimore MD 21224) in the Marquee Lounge. Doors and registration open at 6:30 and the prop reveal and rules discussion will begin at 7:30. For those who want to stick around longer, the event will wrap up at approximately 9 pm.  At least one representative from each team (although the more the merrier) must attend to receive the prop and learn about the rules. Actors and crew looking to join a team are welcome to network and attend, too. A cash bar will be open so stop by, have a drink, and meet fellow filmmakers!

Looking forward to seeing old friends and making new ones. Every year the festival seems to get better; can’t wait to see what’s in store for our fifth year!
